Vitamin/nutrient of the Week
Fish Oil: While not a vitamin per se, fish oil ,which is an easy name for Omega III fatty acids, is one of if not the most important supplements. It is vital to almost all functions of the body. Derived from plankton via fish or krill, fish oil lubricates EVERYTHING from your joints to your brain, it is the ultimate anti inflammatory. Remeber, inflammation results in disease and degeneration at the cellular level leading to premature stroke, heart attack, and most other degenerative diseases. What can fish oil do for you? Studies show it improves speech in Alzheimer's patients, reduces bad cholesterol, and decreases pain in the joints of arthritics, decreases the effects of asthma- IMAGINE WHAT IT CAN DO FOR A HEALTHY PERSON! One word of caution: it is important to buy the BEST quality you can afford. If it tastes fishy- it's already oxidized meaning it's becoming rancid. If you don't have access to pharmaceutical grade vitamins from your health care provider, look in your health food store for Nordic Naturals or Carlson's= both very good, high quality supplements.
Great job Greg ~ I’ll promote this on my own blog and Facebook…
I look forward to learning more about you…
Holly
Thanks Holly- the more people who know and can make the simple changes which lead to longer, healthier life and less visits to the doctor, the better!
Dr Johnston my son is 9 yrs old and has been on a swim team for a few years now – question prior to the race what is good for to eat/for the engine – then also what is good for the post racing? we usually have about 3-5 races during the day. We’ve been doing fruits, veggies/ power bars/types? Along with G2/water. Just curious to your thoughts for his age currently.
Thanks
Max
Thank You Max. Boy do I remember those days with my own children. Long hours of waiting in the hot arizona sun mixed in with with short periods of screaming ,cheering and running up and down the side of the pool. I also recall the vast amounts of very bad food and drinks consumed back then. I call it the “C” diet, such as cookies, cakes, candies, crackers chipes, cokes and crap. All full of sugar all of which lowers performance (studies prove this), and increases inflamation. You on the other hand are doing great with the fruits, veggies and power bars. make sure the bars have the low sugar content and higher protein G2/water is a little high in sugar but better than gatorade, see if you can sell your son on more water. I like propel if sweet is needed.Good luck , On your mark, get set, Boom!
